Danger, Danger 2016 was the warmest ever year

The following comes directly from the NASA website;

“Earth’s 2016 surface temperatures were the warmest since modern recordkeeping began in 1880, according to independent analyses by NASA and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). Globally-averaged temperatures in 2016 were 1.78 degrees Fahrenheit (0.99 degrees Celsius) warmer than the mid-20th century mean. This makes 2016 the third year in a row to set a new record for global average surface temperatures. The 2016 temperatures continue a long-term warming trend, according to analyses by scientists at NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS) in New York. NOAA scientists concur with the finding that 2016 was the warmest year on record based on separate, independent analyses of the data.”

The damage we are inflicting on planet earth, its inhabitants, animals, wildlife and nature is potentially devastating and unless the problem is taken more seriously at the highest level of decision making we will destroy mankind.

“Humans and wild animals face new challenges for survival because of climate change. More frequent and intense drought, storms, heat waves, rising sea levels, melting glaciers and warming oceans can directly harm animals, destroy the places they live, and wreak havoc on people’s livelihoods and communities.” – World Wildlife Fund

The 30-second video from NASA gives a graphical illustration of the earth heating up from 1880 to 2015.

You have to wonder at our world’s leaders and their lack of real action. This video is from one of the most credible of sources yet too often the political and big business response produces data that simply cannot stand up to science.

The “me” and “now” attitude won’t be leaving much for future generations. Way too much lip service from the bureaucrats. Shame on them.
