Charlotte, NC And F4mily Matters Are Making Difference
Since 2015, the city of Charlotte, NC has been on a public mission to decrease homelessness in Mecklenburg County. In 2016, a coalition of community leaders came up with a plan to build permanent homes for the homeless. The only problem is; the homes take time to build. Homeless people have died on the streets waiting for the shelter and food promised to them. Sometimes it takes volunteers from unlikely places to make a difference. Small companies like F4mily Matters help made a difference by using their resources and followers to do food drives to help homeless people survive the wait. F4mily Matters is a clothing brand based in Charlotte, NC with a motto to fight for family and help the community.
In March of 2017, F4mily Matters sent out a tweet informing all of their followers about their food drive for the homeless. On the day of the event, the F4mily Matters store was filled with bag lunches. There were smiles on faces and everyone was glad to help the neighborhood clothing store make a difference in the lives of those in need. Even Seth Simmons, a rapper from Greensboro, NC, came down to help when he heard about the event. Seth said passing out food to the homeless inspired more drive in himself to be successful. It motivated him to work more diligently on his mission to end hunger in the world.
As of today, Charlotte has housed over 500 homeless victims since 2015. The future for Charlotte is bright and there won’t be anyone without a safe place to live. For the homeless still waiting, there are groups willing to help make the time go by. Organizations like F4mily Matters, and individuals like Seth Simmons are helping set the standard of what it means to do good in the world. Helping others is always the answer.
