OUR BEAUTIFUL WORLD HIKE
Despite the wind, rain and clouds Ripple Zoo’s first meet up walk/hike went ahead with great success. The aim was to bring people together for a healthy and fun Sunday morning while cleaning up litter. We gave the hikers bin bags to collect as much rubbish as we could while walking to appreciate the beautiful world in which we live. The hike kicked off at 10:30 am on Bray seafront and around 15 people braved the weather and set out.
Even with the clouds, the views from bray head were amazing and our brave walkers managed to collect lots of waste to help clean up a little section of our beautiful world. Puddles were plentiful and those people without proper shoes probably wished they had been wearing hiking boots.
After a roughly 2-hour walk, everyone made it to Greystones in one piece where, thanks to Eddie Byrne and the lovely staff at the Beach House Bar and restaurant, hot coffee, tea and soup were had by our wet but happy hikers. The bin bags were collected and people said their goodbyes.
All in all, it was a great day and a great example of something that is easy, free and quick to set up in your own community. Is there a trail, walk or path near you that needs a bit of a cleanup? Why not organise one of these events yourself and get people out on a healthy walk while giving a little something back to the world around us. It can be a great way to meet new people and get some exercise at the same time. Go on, get out there and do something good today!
Join our meet up group and stay up to date with upcoming hikes!
