Italy to take some migrants rescued in the Mediterranean

Two Italian ships allowed to land 450 migrants in Sicily after five European countries agreed to accept them.

Italian Premier Giuseppe Conte said that Spain, Portugal, France, Germany, and Malta had come forward in response to his request and to accept 50 refugees each. Earlier, Conte permitted to land in the port of Pozallo 43 women and 14 children. Besides, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the country gave the go-ahead for the landing of the remaining migrants.

“This is the solidarity and responsibility that we have always asked from Europe, and now, after the results reached the last European Council, they become a reality,” Conte wrote in his Facebook.
