Blackrock College Mission Fund Educating Africans
The Mission Fund was established by the Blackrock College Past Pupils Union to provide financial support to the Spiritans missionary work. The Spiritans (Holy Ghost Fathers) provide direct assistance to the world’s poorest regions, where the level of poverty and living conditions are often unimaginable. Although our financial assistance will never compare to the sacrifice of the Spiritans, who have dedicated their lives to such work, it does nonetheless make a very real impact as all money raised goes directly to specific cases or projects.
Aidan Corless was appointed Chairman in 2014 and introduced a sponsorship program, whereby the emphasis of the fundraising would be to help educate the poor, by sending them to secondary school. The Mission Fund also donate to urgent requests from their missionaries, like the one from Fr David Conway where the people of Pokot are now drinking dirty contaminated water due to the drought. Their animals, their only asset, are dying in the current drought.
